East India Commercial Company Ltd. with its 4 jute mills is one of the largest manufacturers of jute in eastern India and a name to reckon with in the entire country as a whole. It is the leader in each segment, namely hessian cloth, sacking and yarns and among the best in quality.
Established in 1941, East India Commercial Company’s presence cuts across the entire jute industry in India and the whole subcontinent. The company’s manufacturing base in India is spread across Eluru, Kotthuru and Guntur (Andhra Pradesh). The company initially was promoted by Bhartia family of Kolkata. Four generations of Bhartias, starting with late Dedraj Bhartia , succeeded by his son, Late Sitaram Bhartia, further succeeded by grandson Late Biswanath Bhartia have steered the company. Now his great-grandsons and representatives of fourth generation Mr.Alok and Mr. Deepak Bhartia are at the helm. Initially the company was carrying on trading activity and from 1945 it went into manufacturing of jute products.
